2023 6 Mile Road Race

We are delighted that last year's Chudleigh Road Race raised an amazing £900 to go towards our Community Pool running costs. A huge thank you from us to Fiona and the road race committee.

Ways for you to Donate to
Chudleigh Community Project

If you are able, we would appreciate you supporting us financially. This could be by cash donation, nominating us to benefit  from the Co-op Community Fund or now, by buying Teignbridge lottery tickets. Details of how to do this are here.

50% of ticket money for tickets purchased via our lottery web page will come back to us. Help us improve our facilities and cover our increasing running costs. Buy your tickets here!

For 23/24 we have again been accepted for Co-op Community Fund money. This time it will go towards PV solar panels.

So that will be our share of the 2% of the total bill for Co-op branded products that you Chudleigh shoppers buy over the year.

ABOUT US

Welcome to the Chudleigh Community Project web site.  We are a Registered Charity, formed in 1989, Charity Commission Registration Number is 900204. We contribute to Chudleigh life in three ways – we operate the Community Swimming Pool, we manage the Community School Hall outside school hours and we promote arts and dramas events.

Community Swimming Pool

The pool was built in the 90s on land leased for 99 years from The Exeter Diocese and Devon County Council. It opened in 1997.

Normally open from the end of April/early May to the beginning of September, the crystal clear water is warm! - heated to around 28 deg C and helped by our solar panels. There is a large timber framed shelter adjacent to the shallow end that provides shade when sunny and shelter when wet. The pool has public sessions and is available for hire at other times. Sweets, hot drinks, flapjack and cakes available from our kiosk.

Community School Hall

When the school was built in the early 1990s, the community, in the form of Chudleigh Community Project contributed £100,000 to pay for an enlarged hall, an additional hall store room and shower facilities. It is operated by CCP under a Dual Use Agreement.

The hall is a light and airy space big enough for two badminton courts. Available for hire for parties and events.  Facilities include portable stage, seating, tea/coffee making facilities.

Regulars hirers include badminton, short tennis, tae kwon do, Chudleigh Baptist Church and the FISH holiday club.

We Are Run By Volunteers

You’ve been kept safe by the pool lifeguards organised by volunteer Alison. But the lovely pool water you swim in has been kept up to scratch by volunteers Chris Evans and his team, other volunteers operate the kiosk, and plan the timetable and another volunteer administers the hall bookings.

All of these operations are overseen by the good folk of the Chudleigh Community Project committee.

We can't operate without volunteers. The trustees forming the CCP committee are also volunteers, comprising our officers, Brendon Houghton (Chair) and Rick Ward (Treasurer), together with other committee members. The Secretary's post is currently vacant.

So we rely on volunteers to form the committee and to undertake numerous tasks for the pool, hall and fundraising.

Please have a think about how you might be able to contribute to the running of this charity and email us on admin@chudleighpool.org.uk if you can help in some way.
