Chudleigh Pool COVID-19 User Requirements

Booking and timetable


  • Please check this website for the pool timetable, user guidance and booking instructions  or facebook page  - Chudleigh Community Pool and Chudleigh Community Project.


Before leaving home and on your return


  • Do not come to the pool if you are showing any symptoms of Covid-19 i.e. temperature, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell.


  • The changing room will not be available but a space on poolside will be allocated to you.  Please arrive ready to swim. Once you have finished your swim, leave the venue as soon as you can.


  • Shower at home, pre and post swimming.


  • Check the pool’s instructions on arrival time and parking. Please plan your journey accordingly.


  • Take hand sanitiser with you.


  • Take any equipment/aids with you (floats, kickboards etc.) ensuring it is clean and identifiable as yours before you arrive.


  • Ensure you have any booking confirmation required as part of the pool’s guidance.


When at the pool


  • Please WAIT AT THE GATE for the lifeguard to let you in at the start of your session.


  • Please follow the pool guidance on pre swim arrival, duration of the swim/session and post swim arrangements.


  • Whilst at the pool, follow the guidance on social distancing, direction of travel and other risk control measures that have been put into place.


  • There will be a one-way system into the pool site. Entry to the site will be via the top pool gate - nearest the kiosk.  Once inside there will be arrows directing you as to where you can leave your possessions. 


  • A toilet is available for you to use should you require this facility. The use of the toilet will be on a ‘one in, one out’ system and you will be responsible for sanitising the toilet and the wash hand facilities after you have used them.


  • Hand sanitiser will be made available at the pool for use.


  • When your session ends, exiting the pool site will be via the middle gate leading to the toilet facilities.



In the pool


  • Follow the pool’s directions for entry and exiting the pool.




  • People of different standards and abilities will be using the pol.  Please respect their right to enjoy their swim.


  • Do not make any physical contact with other pool users.




  • Always attempt to maintain appropriate social distance between yourself and other pool users.




  • Wide strokes such a butterfly should not be used. Please stick to front crawl and breaststroke where possible. Backstroke can be used but please remember this is an open air pool and it can be difficult to gauge keeping in a straight line




  • Follow the pool’s guidance on use of equipment.




  • Whether stopping for a rest to catch your breath after completing your swim/session please be mindful that others using the pool will want to keep on swimming without stopping so please maintain social distancing measures.


  • Stay hydrated by bringing your own ‘pre-filled’ water bottles onto poolside during your swim.
