Community Swimming Pool:
We're OPEN for the summer!!
Pool Operation From 19th July
Following the government’s decision to remove most legal provisions for dealing with COVID-19 from Monday 19th July, you will be wanting to know how we are intending to operate from then and through the summer holidays.
The programme for the summer holidays that will take us up to 6th September, when the pool closes is now on this web site. We are continuing to use our on line booking system, with the kiosk remaining closed. We are also retaining our COVID-19 measures.
We have had many comments from people who do not want us to change our Bubble sessions, but we have also had requests for the return of General Swimming. We are replacing a small number of Bubbles with General Swimming sessions. In addition, on Thursdays and Fridays, if the afternoon private hire session is not taken up, we will hold a General Swim session in its place. Numbers for all sessions will be limited to 18 swimmers (and 4 spectators). We have risk assessed our changing rooms and will not be opening them due to the lack of ventilation. Therefore please continue to arrive pool ready and change afterwards on poolside.
Tickets must still be booked in advance.
As always, the safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance to us.
Please go to our Swimming Pool page for much more information and to book sessions.
Adult Improvers and Children's Intensive Sessions
Mady is running various extra sessions during the summer holidays for both adults and children. More details here.
Community School Hall:
Use of the hall continues to be influenced by the changes in the COVID rules and the level of positive COVID tests in school staff and pupils. Regular hirers will continue to be contacted by the Bookings Secretary when circumstances change.
3 Ways for you to Donate to Chudleigh Community Project
If you are able, we would appreciate you supporting us financially. This could be by cash donation, nominating us to benefit from Amazon Smile purchases or nominating us to benefit from the Co-op Community Fund. Details of how to do this are here.
Thanks to the Co-op Local Community Fund, we have received £3,824 towards our new disabled hoist. That's our share of the 1% of the total bill for Co-op branded products that you Chudleigh shoppers have bought over the last year. We've still got to raise some more money before we can buy it, so it's unlikely to be available for our 2021 season.
Welcome to the Chudleigh Community Project web site. We are a Registered Charity, formed in 1989, Charity Commission Registration Number is 900204. We contribute to Chudleigh life in three ways – we operate the Community Swimming Pool, we manage the Community School Hall outside school hours and we promote arts and dramas events.
Open from the end of April to the beginning of September, the crystal clear water is warm! - heated to between 28 and 29 deg C, helped by our solar panels. There is a large timber framed shelter adjacent to the shallow end that provides shade when sunny and shelter when wet. The pool has public sessions and is available for hire at other times. Sweets, hot drinks, flapjack and cakes available from our kiosk.
A light and airy space big enough for two badminton courts. Available for hire for parties and events. Facilities include portable stage, seating, tea/coffee making facilities.
Regulars hirers include badminton, short tennis, tae kwon do, Chudleigh Baptist Church and the FISH holiday club.
We couldn’t operate without volunteers, relying on them to form the committee and to undertake numerous tasks for the pool, hall and fundraising. New volunteers are always appreciated and can always be found a job!
