The effects of floating sound baths

Everyone has a unique experience during a floating sound bath, but common words people use are “relaxing… peaceful… dreamy.” As you float effortlessly, time can seem to slow down. Your body may feel weightless, fully supported by the water, allowing tension to melt away. Some describe a gentle drifting sensation, as if suspended and carried by the sound.

Thoughts or worries can begin to soften and fade as you settle into the experience. The combination of floating and sound can feel immersive—almost as though you’re moving with the vibrations.

After a floating sound bath, people often feel deeply relaxed, present, and calm. You might notice greater clarity, creativity, or a more peaceful perspective. Each session is unique, and every experience can differ.

But if floating doesn't appeal to you, we have the option of lying on a lounger beside the pool.

What happens when I arrive and what do I have to do at a floating sound bath?

On arrival, our team will assist you onto the air beds via the pool steps, you than sit down onto the mattress so your lower legs will get wet.   You may wish to wear swim wear.

If you’d like extra comfort, feel free to bring your own pillow. We also suggest bringing a blanket, as your body temperature may drop while you are lying still and relaxing. The session lasts for approximately one hour.

Once settled, your only task is to relax, close your eyes, and let the sounds wash over you. Some people drift into a deeply restful state, and others may fall asleep. When the session ends, you’ll be gently guided back on to dry land.

If it rains, the session will still go ahead. If you prefer, you may opt to remain on dry land, on the mattress and under the pool shelter.

2026 6 mile road race.png

Those of you who know the Chudleigh 6 Mile Road Race course will know that it is a bit hilly in places! This year Wilson, who's one of our wonderful lifeguards and Charlie, one of our supporters, are taking part in this race to raise much needed funds for Chudleigh Pool.

So please sponsor them by donating via our GoFundMe page, which you can access HERE.

Chudleigh Carnival 2026 CCP entry.png

Chudleigh Pool has entered a walking entry at this year's carnival parade, taking place on Saturday 18th July at 6pm. Our theme is "It's Cool at the Pool". So stylish and fashionable sort of thing, as we all know by now that the pool water is lovely and warm! We would love as many of you as possible to join us, wearing a pool related creation born of your own imagination, together with any props that you may wish to carry.

Please assemble at the school carpark at 5pm, ready for the judging of the entries.

It would help us to know if you are going to take part, so please email us on admin@chudleighpool.org.uk if you are.

So, why not come and see the variety of beautiful moths that our lovely Nikki has caught in her garden overnight.    Did you know how many different varieties of moth there are?

You have to be early so it’s cool for the moths.    Then they get released back to their home garden

  • A great educational event for children and nature loving adults

  • Colouring pages to copy moth colours

  • See the moths up close

  • Muffins at small extra cost

When? 9am Sunday 19th July.

Where? Meet at the swimming pool gate and then we'll go to somewhere cool close by.

Please book on Chudleigh pool website HERE or just come on the day.  £2 entry or £3.50 with muffin!   Under 5's free

About Chudleigh Community Swimming Pool

The pool is 20 metres long and 8 metres wide. It's depth is 1 metre at the shallow end and 1.4 metres at the deep end.  So adults can stand on the bottom over its whole area.

Water temperature is normally around 28 degrees C and is partially heated by solar panels.

Pool Shelter: Unbelievably, our large wood framed shelter was raised and commissioned in one day in 2008.  It provides shade when sunny and shelter when wet so no need to worry about the weather!

Where is the pool? Click here to see.
